LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A group working to incorporate the Bellevue community in Lamar County delayed its official presentation to the Lamar County Board of Supervisors.

A press release posted on the committee's website said "the collection of data by the professional staff regarding all facts and figures of the incorporation" were not available by the scheduled meeting on May 4. Since WDAM broke the story on this incorporation effort, May 4 was the scheduled date for more information to be made public on the committee's work.

District 4 Supervisor Phillip Carlisle said the potential incorporation would include parts of his district as well as District 5, which is represented by Dale Lucas. Both Carlisle and Lucas said they supported the committee's efforts to incorporate the Bellevue community.

Hattiesburg City Council President Kim Bradley said several weeks ago that he planned to present plans of the city annexing the business corridor on Highway 98 that stretches just past the Highway 589 intersection, which is where Bellevue is located. Bradley said that annexation would not include residential neighborhoods, and Carlisle said he planned to block any effort from the city to annex the area. No plans have yet been presented by the city.
