COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) - Many in the South Mississippi legal community traveled to Marion County Friday for a special event for a former chancery judge who is about to celebrate his birthday.
Retired judge Sebe Dale, Jr. will turn 94-years-old on Saturday and Friday afternoon, the 10th Chancery Dist. hosted a party for him at the chancery court building in Columbia.
Judge Dale, who retired in 2010, served on the bench for 32 years.
Current judges, attorneys, family and friends attended his party.
"His work extended itself throughout our entire judiciary," said Judge Johnny Williams, a chancellor in the 10th Chancery Court Dist. "He helped create the modern-day reforms that we now have in our court system," Williams said.
"It's flattering," said Judge Dale about his party. "It makes me feel like maybe I did some good for 42 years. It wasn't all in vain, I enjoyed it," he said.
Dale was also an Army Air Corps training pilot in World War Two.
