On Friday, Jones County Sheriff's Investigators arrested George Shoemake, 55 of Laurel, with a charge of Grand Larceny.
On Wednesday, April 29, 2015, a complaint was filed by a family member that Shoemake was believed to have stolen several items from a residence on Reid Road. Among those items stolen were jewelry valued in excess of $5,000 and firearms . During the investigation it was determined Shoemake was the offender.
Most of the stolen property has been secured. Bond has not been set at this time.
In the process of executing the arrest warrant for George Shoemake, Investigators discovered an arrest warrant issued from the Mississippi Department of Corrections for George's adopted son, Gregory Shoemake, 37 of Laurel. Gregory was taken into custody as well. Possible charges related to the Grand Larceny are pending.
