HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Children of parents who are seeking temporary assistance at Hattiesburg's Field House for the Homeless now have a special place to play and learn while they wait for new home.

Thursday, a ribbon was cut to officially open the Children's Area at the facility.

It was built by the Hattiesburg Junior Auxiliary and includes a toy kitchen area, books, DVDs and other toys.

JA members spent about nine months raising money for and working on the project.

The Field House for the Homeless was founded by Cynthia Young and Priscilla Brown in 2014.
