JACKSON, MS (WDAM) - This is a news release from the Mississippi Development Authority
Mississippi Development Authority launched its new website today as part of the agency's efforts to provide targeted information about the state's thriving business climate and substantial competitive advantages. The state's outreach efforts to attract new global and domestic business can be visited online at www.choosemississippi.org.
The comprehensive website features essential economic and industry data for the state's target industries and workforce development resources. Other interactive features include an infrastructure and industry density mapping component, and an enhanced GIS database for available sites and buildings. Additionally, the website features dozens of success stories that highlight Mississippi's advantages and workforce training benefits. The online tool will more effectively position the state as a prime location for new business investment as company executives and site consultants search for investment locations.
"Mississippi's business climate offers local and global companies the right ingredients for success," Gov. Phil Bryant said. "We can now consistently market our competitive advantages around the world with this new website. We have listened to the needs of site selectors, and we have developed a bold plan to effectively position Mississippi to compete for more projects and to ultimately win more investment projects for the state. We want everyone to know why they should choose Mississippi, and we believe this new tool will help us achieve that goal."
The development and launch of the new website is the result of the findings of a 2014 competitiveness study funded by Mississippi Economic Council. The study compared Mississippi's business environment, workforce delivery, site certification programs, and economic development service delivery with that of other southeastern states.
"The competitiveness study outlined several actions to give the state and MDA an even stronger position as economic development projects arise. Today's demand economy requires us to be highly responsive to the needs of industry on a condensed timeline," said MEC Executive Director Blake Wilson. "The new website paves the way for us to match resources and business assets in a more efficient way. It is also a great resource for new and existing companies to learn about the many competitive advantages of doing business in Mississippi."
Workforce development is prominently featured throughout the website, which contains vital information often sought by corporate prospects and site consultants. It includes a searchable workforce training database, links to resources available at the state's community colleges and research universities, relevant labor and education statistics, available training programs and customizable training solutions. The workforce component of MDA's new website gives companies the information and resources they need to build a strong and sustainable workforce.
