Two Laurel suspects flee traffic stop, crash vehicle

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - On Saturday, officers of the Laurel Police Department responded to the vicinity of 3rd Avenue and West 24th Street in regards to a call on larceny of a handgun that had been stolen from an individual.

The suspects had been reported as being in a black Ford Expedition. It was later seen in the 2400 block of North 5th street.

On making visual contact with the vehicle, Officer John Stringer attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the individuals in the vehicle fled the area.

The identity of the suspects were established after the vehicle wrecked in the vicinity of Hoy and Trace Road.

Raphael Tillery, 26, and 18-year old Darryun Keyes were taken into custody.

A small caliber handgun was found in the vehicle. Tillery is charged with felony possession of a firearm and Keyes is charged with felonly fleeing in a motor vehicle.

Both men are being housed in the Jones County Jail.
