JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Members of the Jones County Crimestoppers took time out to hold its annual appreciation luncheon on Thursday. It was held at the Pistol Range Training Center in Laurel where members of law enforcement, along with county and city officials were treated to a nice meal. Jones County Crimestoppers Coordinator, Wilbur Chamberlin credits much of the success of the program to their relationship with area law enforcement and members of the community.
"Well during the past year we were able to make five arrests and we also capture two fugitives." said Chamberlin, "We paid out $2,295 in rewards and due to our tips, law enforcement was able to seize $75,600 worth of drugs."
Jones County Crimestoppers has been in existence since 1983 and has helped in making hundreds of arrests.
