JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Tickets are still available for a biennial event in Jones County which focuses on women's health issues and will feature a presentation from a 1980s TV star and Christian speaker.

Tickets are being sold through Thursday afternoon for the 2015 Women's Life Conference at Jones County Junior College.

It will take place this Saturday, from 8 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. and will include a luncheon, a physician panel and a keynote speech by Lisa Whelchel, who gained fame in the 1980s as Blair on the TV series "The Facts of Life."

"We care about the women in our region, we care about their health, we care about the health of their families," said Karen Vanderslice, community education coordinator at South Central Regional Medical Center. "And women are still making about 90 percent of all the healthcare decisions for themselves and their families, and they need this information and it's important," she said.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by calling (601) 399-0501.
