Forrest County burglary suspect "falls asleep on the job"

FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A burglary suspect caught “sleeping on the job” woke up to deputies and a trip to the Forrest County Jail. 

Douglas Davis, 50, was charged with burglary and possession of methamphetamine after he was arrested in the 100 block of J.C. Bryant Road in Forrest County.

“Deputies received a call of a subject that was inside a residence that was sleeping,” said Forrest County Investigator Nick Calico.

Deputies arrived on scene; Davis was in the house asleep on the floor.

“Items that had been taken from inside the house were in with his personal belonging, as well as a substance believed to be methamphetamine was also discovered,” said Calico.

According to Calico, Davis admitted going into the house.

Davis appeared in court Monday where his bond was set at $15,000.

    The City of Hattiesburg is urging motorists to use caution Thursday morning in various areas of the city due to utility work. Pearl River Valley Electric began work on switching out a transformer at 6 a.m.  So, traffic lights at US 98 and Hwy 11, US 98 and Lake Forgetful and US 98 and Cross Creek Parkway are expected to experience some downtime .  The Hattiesburg Police Department will be directing traffic in those areas to offer support in the event downtime does occur.&n...More >>
