River baseball, softball games rescheduled due to weather

Mother Nature has had quite an impact on Pearl River Community College spring sports as the school's baseball and softball seasons wind down to a close amidst wet weather conditions.

PRCC's MACJC baseball doubleheader at East Mississippi in Scooba is set for Sunday, April 19 (4 p.m. start).

Following their match ups with the Lions, only two more twin bills remain for the Wildcats, as they host Holmes Saturday, April 25 (2 p.m. start) in Wildcat Stadium in Poplarville before wrapping up their season Monday, April 27, against archrival Mississippi Gulf Coast in Perkinson (3 p.m. start).

The PRCC-EMCC contest were originally scheduled for Saturday, April 18, but were moved back to Friday, April 17, due to weather before the twin bill was rescheduled again because of inclement weather.

The PRCC-MGCCC match ups were initially scheduled for March 11, but were postponed due to wet weather conditions.Pearl River's Lady Wildcats will finally know their post-season fate as only two doubleheaders remain next week --- both postponed from earlier dates due to weather.

Currently holding on to a four-game lead for fourth place in the MACJC South Division over fifth-place Copiah-Lincoln, PRCC has to win at least one of their remaining four games to clinch a post-season spot.

The River hosts Co-Lin Monday (3 p.m. start) in a twin bill in Lady Wildcat Stadium that was originally scheduled for April 14, before wrapping its regular season against second-place East Central in Decatur (1 p.m. start).

That doubleheader was originally scheduled for Friday.With a single victory in the remaining four games, the Lady Wildcats will clinch a fourth place finish and a berth in one of four MACJC playoff series set for April 24-25 (Friday and Saturday) against either Northwest Mississippi in Senatobia or Itawamba in Fulton.

The winners of the four series cop berths in the MACJC State Tournament set for May 1-2 (Friday and Saturday) at the home field of the South Division champion.If no South team remains after the playoff series, the tournament will be played at the highest-seeded North Division school.
