Hattiesburg woman jailed on aggravated assault charge

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg woman is behind bars and charged with aggravated assault in connection with an April 7 incident.

April Barnett, 35, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant from an incident that occurred in the 3800 block of Eagle Drive on April 7 around 1:30 p.m.

According to Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler, the original charge was upgraded to aggravated assault based on the injuries that occurred during the incident.

Barnett is also facing a charge linked to delivering contraband to a jail from a previous warrant issued by Forrest County authorities.

Barnett's bond was set at $35,000 and she is being housed at the Forrest County Jail.
