ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - On Monday, the son of a potential embezzlement victim contacted the Jones County Sheriff's Department with concerns his mother was being taken advantage of financially.
The son reported checking his mother's mail and discovering her bank statement had several discrepancies. It was quickly determined that the caregiver to his 91-year-old mother had been writing checks in the victim's name from the account.
Pamela Carol Creel, 50 of Taylorsville, had been the victim's caregiver for almost two years. Creel had been managing the victim's checkbook and after an initial investigation it was determined several checks in varying large amounts, had been written to Creel, by Creel. The Jones County Sheriff's Department's Investigation Department determined $12,310.00 had been embezzled from the victim since October 2014.
Jones County Investigators questioned Creel at the Jones County Sheriff's Department and was arrested and charged with six counts of Embezzlement. Creel made her initial appearance at Justice Court in Ellisville on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, where her bond for those charges was set at $30,000.
