LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art announced Wednesday that the Mississippi Collegiate Art Faculty Juried Exhibition will be held in the lower gallery area.
Faculties from over 12 different universities have their works represented in the exhibit, which showcases creations in different types of media. There are over 60 works of art, including paintings, drawings, graphic designs, video, sculpture and pottery.
Tommie Rodger's, the museum's registrar, said the exhibit is special because it represents living artists, and the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art is the only art museum in the state to share the art with the public.
"This actually is a great way to showcase living artists. A lot of works in our collection are by older artist from a different time period," said Rodgers.
"This art is bringing something relevant to us from our time period, these materials that are new and different to us because of new technologies and industries that were created that make some of the art and just the materials special to us."
The public is invited, and admission is free. Tours are available if a large group wishes to attend, and calling to schedule and appointment is encouraged.
The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art is open Tuesday through Sunday.
