Collins football team receives championship rings

COLLINS, MS (WDAM) - It was a celebration in Collins as the Tigers received their 3A football state championship rings Sunday.

Senior Mark McLaurin spoke about what it was like seeing the hardware up close and personal.

"Coach showed us the design, but we didn't know it looked like this. Feel like we went to a Super Bowl."

Head coach Ryan Earnest said, "The design looked great, but when I actually saw the ring I was blown away."

"It's just a testament to these kids hard work. The parents and community got behind us with the fund-raising. We're just really excited."

Collins beat Charlston in comeback style 28-20 in overtime at Davis Wade stadium in Starkville for the school's third MHSAA title December 6, 2014.

The ceremony was held at Mount Beulah Missionary Baptist Church.
