ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - This is a news release from Jones County Junior College.

The Jones County Junior College Workforce Development Team is training students for a career as an entry-level Heavy Equipment Operator. The class will meet at the JCJC Advanced Technology Center on Monday and Tuesday nights from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with hands-on training on Saturdays at 8 a.m. The first class meeting will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015, at 6 p.m. at the Technology Center. The Heavy Equipment Operator Training tuition is $714. Tuition assistance may be available through your local WIN Job Center.

This course will include lecture, simulator training and hands-on training. Trainees will learn basic operation of excavators and dozers from the ground up with a strong emphasis on safety.     Licensed barber Steve McGill has been cutting hair for 27 years, opening his own shop in Columbia, MS in 1996 but he decided to close the shop because the bills were getting a little out of hand. “The bills kept going up,” McGill says. “So, I went back to the drawing board and I said "You know what? I'm going to build me a mobile unit.”
