JCJC's Wayne County Center is offering summer classes

This is a news release for JCJC 

Jones County Junior College's Center in Waynesboro is currently enrolling students for college credit courses this summer. Class dates and times may vary depending on demand, however the summer evening class schedule begins on Monday, June 1, through July 30. The following five classes are currently scheduled for this summer. More credit and non-credit classes may be offered later.

Summer tuition is half of the regular cost at $60 a credit hour. Interested students can register in person at the Wayne County Center at 103 Collins Street in Waynesboro, or by calling 601-735-2228 or emailing Melanie.james@jcjc.edu. Summer College Credit Classes:

Speech (Hybrid) Mondays, 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Class Meets: June 1, 15, 22, July 13, 27.

College Algebra Tuesdays, 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Western Civilization I Wednesdays, 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

English Comp. II Thursdays, 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Non-Credit Class:

Non-credit welding will begin Wednesday, May 6, for approximately six weeks. This class will meet on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. The cost is $175.

    Just after midnight on July 21, the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatality on Hwy 53 in Pearl River County. Four people were pronounced dead at the scene.  According to authorities, a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic was traveling north of Highway 53 when it crossed the center line and crashed head on with a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driving in the southbound lane.     Around 8 p.m., emergency crews responded to a reignited house fire on Hwy. 11 in Lamar County. Fire investigator, George Stephens, says the initial fire happened before 3 a.m. on July 21.  When crews arrived on scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames. No one was at home at the time of the fire. Stephens says the family was thankful to be away when the fire sparked. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and the investigation into is ongoing.   Copyri...
