Downtown Laurel preparing for rumble and roar

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Downtown Laurel will come alive Saturday with the rumble and roar of powerful vehicles.

Laurel Main Street, a local organization, is hosting the annual Touch a Truck event on April 11 for children to have an opportunity to explore all types vehicles in one place. They will learn about the equipment and role the vehicles play for the residents of the Laurel area.

“This particular event will go towards our side grants and amenities,” said Laurel Main Street Executive Director Judi Hollifield. “If you've walked around downtown you see that we've put in new garbage cans, [and] we hope to add a few more.

Event proceeds will help the Laurel Main Street improve the area.

"We have painted the new mural on the Laurel-Jones County Library, which is what this event helped us raise money for last year, and this year we will be improving the landscaping on Carroll Gartin Blvd," Hollifield said.

Touch a Truck starts at 9 a.m. Tickets are $5, and kids two and under enter for free. For more information on this event, click HERE.
