Southern Miss and Ole Miss are well into their conference schedules, but are set for the second installment of their in-state rivalry, Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles (17-11-1) struck first against the Rebels (16-16) in the opening salvo with a 5-1 victory at Pete Taylor Park, March 4.
USM is winners of five straight against Mississippi, but focusing on the immediate circumstances head coach Scott berry said past matchups do not mean much.
"I think more than anything they're probably thinking about trying to get back on a winning track. They lost two out of three to Tennessee this past weekend so they're well aware of the importance of every game whether it's non-conference or conference, in-state or out-of-state."
"[In] Division-I baseball, every game is important. So, the importance of them coming in trying to get a win honestly is probably the same as ours."
First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Trustmark Park in Pearl.
