Armed man arrested at Hattiesburg restaurant

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

An armed man gave customers at a Hattiesburg restaurant quite the scare Saturday morning.

According to witnesses just before 9 a.m. an armed man entered Shoney's Restaurant on U.S. 49 and was acting erratic.

Jeremy Walker, 31, of Hattiesburg was taken into custody after he exited the restaurant.

Hattiesburg Police apprehended Walker in the parking lot within minutes after he allegedly displayed a gun.

When the suspect was taken into custody, he had this to say;

“I'm just saying I just tried to come eat and they talking about that I did something wrong...cause I ain't have no money... I have no.....I do have the world…”

When asked if he went inside the restaurant with a gun, he replied;

“I went with that cause that's the gun that, that, that gave me the power.”

Members of the Shoney's management staff were not allowed to comment on the matter, but did say that none of the customers were harmed during the incident.

Walker was booked into the Forrest County Jail and charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
