HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - More than 600 runners and walkers gathered at Hattiesburg Clinic Saturday morning to raise money for a local organization which provides community-based services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They participated in the fourth annual Rise & Shine Half-Marathon and 5K.
It supported The Arc of Southeast Mississippi.
Organizers expected o raise about $20,000.
"I think this is so important for our community, because not only is our community supporting this organization which is so vital, but it supports the midtown area," said Susan Yarrow, co-director of the race.
Cash prizes were awarded to first, second and third place winners in the half-marathon.
