About 100 students from Hattiesburg participated in the Champions Challenge golf tournament Wednesday.
The event was sponsored by the First Tee of the Pine Belt and focused on teaching life skills through the game of golf.
"Golf is the vehicle we use to teach the core values," said Sandra Thompson, executive director of the First Tee of the Pine Belt. "Because golf has no referee, the students are responsible for being honest, having integrity, and showing sportsmanship.
Fourth through sixth graders from Grace Christian, Hawkins, Lillie Burney, Rowan, Thames, and Woodley Elementary had a great time learning how to swing a club.
"We have to believe in ourselves to achieve, to win, and have fun doing it," said Jordan Bland, sixth grader at Rowan Elementary.
Grace Christian took home the championship trophy.
All in all, the day was a hole in one.
