The Walthall County School Board passed a motion at a meeting on Tuesday to reorganize the Dexter Attendance Center, currently serving students in grades K-12.
The school will be reorganized as a K-6 school for the 2015-16 school year.
According to a news release issued by Walthall County Schools, district funding and budgeting constraints along with declining enrollment ultimately led district leaders to the decision.
Effective starting the 2015-16 school year, 7th-12th graders will attend other district schools.
As for current 7th-12th grade teachers at Dexter, they will receive a reassignment to another school within the district, according to the statement.
