Crusaders pound Blue Mountain, 12-3

Hattiesburg, Miss.- William Carey University had three different players with three hits and starter Gavin Culpepper (SR/Belle Chase, La.) put together eight strong innings as the Crusaders defeated Blue Mountain College, 12-3 in SSAC action at Milton Wheeler Field.

With the win WCU improves 18-15 overall and 10-6 in SSAC play.

The Crusaders went to work in the bottom of the first inning as Tyler James (FR/Slidell, La.) and Tyler Richardson (JR/Bluff City, Tenn.) led off the inning with back to back singles and Nick Lowe (JR/Satsuma, AL) and Michael Wells (SR/Niceville, Fla.) made the most of the opportunity with RBI's to put Carey up 2-0.

Blue Mountain got one run back on a solo home run by Seth Davis in the top of the second inning but WCU returned the favor in the bottom of the inning as Cody Christian

(JR/Satsuma, Ala.) belted a solo shot to make it 3-1 Carey.

Leading 6-3 WCU finished off the Toppers in the 8th inning with two run singles by Wells and Christian in a six run inning.

Culpepper was solid on the mound yet again for WCU as he scattered three runs and four hits over eight innings to pick up the win.

Tyler James, Michael Wells, and Ramon Cedeno (SR/Orlando, Fla.) each had three hits for WCU. Wells and Cody Christian each drove in three runs.

WCU and Blue Mountain wrap up their SSAC series tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at Noon at Milton Wheeler Field.
