WAYNE COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Waynesboro man wanted for kidnapping and burglary has been arrested Tuesday.

According to the Waynesboro Police Department, Renard Oneal Russell, 26, allegedly shot into a home and kidnapped a person at gunpoint before taking the victim to another county.

Officials said during a traffic stop, Russell fled on foot from the vehicle and was later caught behind a nearby church. 

Russell is currently in the Wayne County Detention Center on three felony charges of kidnapping, burglary, and weapon possession. An additional charge of shooting into an occupied dwelling is currently pending.
