LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Two Lamar County educators are receiving multiple awards.

Oak Grove Middle School Principal Patrick Gray, Ph.D. has been named principal of the year in Lamar County and also for the 4th Congressional District.

"I was very flattered and honored that my peers thought enough of my practice to recognized me in this way," said Gray. "I mean we have great administrators here in Lamar County and just to be recognized in this way is a great honor."

Oak Grove Lower Elementary teacher Anna Morris has been named the teacher of the year in lamar County and the 4th Congressional District.

"To come from the school and the district that I work at and be nominated for something like this is extremely humbling," said Morris, "This has been a huge surprise and a tremendous blessing."

Both are now going against educators from the three other districts for the state title. The winners will be announced on April 23 by the Mississippi teacher Center, which is a branch of the State Department of Education.
