Petal man arrested for meth, pills and guns

SEMINARY, MS (WDAM) - The Seminary Police Department made a drug arrest Tuesday.

Michael Amaral, 43 of Petal, was arrested during a traffic stop after police found drugs inside his vehicle. With the help of the Jones County Sheriff's K9 unit police said they found meth and pills. Officers seized the drugs as well as the vehicle and two guns.

Amaral was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of firearm by a convicted felon and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

"We know because of some of his tattoos he was affiliated with a gang, we know that he had an extensive criminal history and we know that he had a felony amount of narcotics and weapons in his vehicle and he's a convicted felon," said Seminary Chief Michael Kelly. "We don't know what he was potential of, but we're glad that he's off the streets."

Amaral is scheduled to be in court Thursday for his initial appearance.
