RIDGELAND, MISS ( WDAM ) - This is a news release from Super Talk Mississippi.
SuperTalk Mississippi is a proud presenting sponsor of the 3rd Annual Run Up for Downs. When participants step up to the starting
line, they won't be competing just for themselves, they'll also be raising funds and awareness for Down syndrome through the
For Lily Charity.
The 3rd Annual Run Up for Downs will be held Saturday, March 21 at Old Trace Park in Ridgeland, Miss. Participants will run/walk
3.21 miles, just a tenth of a mile longer than a standar55K. The distance is symbolic, as 321 represents three copies of the 21st
chromosome that defines Down syndrome. All proceeds will go to The Central Mississippi Down Syndrome Society and the Little
Light House of Central Mississippi.
The Run Up for Downs will include a kids 1 mile fun run, a 3.21 run/walk, Mississippi's first 0.0 race, a silent auction, pony rides by
High Hopes, jump zones for the kids, live music by the band Trademark, free food and drinks provided by local businesses and much
One event to take note of is Mississippi's first 0.0 race. Participants of the 0.0 will register just like all other participants and will
receive a swag bag and bib. They will walk up to the starting line (following the start of the 3.21 Run/Walk) and upon the starting
gun, will cross the Start/Finish line. This is the perfect event for those wanting to participate in this great Down syndrome awareness
event, but not interesting in running/walking the course. We will randomly choose 3 participants of the 0.0 to receive First, Second
and Third place awards for the 0.0 race.
