HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A scheduled reopening of the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby later this month has been postponed for awhile.
It's been closed for several weeks for new construction and administrators had hoped to reopen a portion of it on March 24.
But, they're pushing that date back to allow for additional work that was supposed to be done later this year.
It's all part of a $2 million expansion and renovation project.
"We actually got a little bit ahead of schedule, so we decided to combine one of the other parts of the projects in, so it's going to move our reopening date from March 24th until mid-June," said Chad Daniels, museum director.
Daniels hopes to open about two-thirds of the facility by June 16.
But, he said work won't be complete until early next year.
