FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Forrest County Agricultural High School Superintendent Dr. J.J. Morgan announced his resignation Monday after serving in his capacity for three years.

In a letter sent to "colleagues and friends" Morgan said “Due to recent circumstances, it is in my family's best interest to leave FCAHS.”

Morgan told WDAM his resignation was not due to an isolated incident, and his resignation letter does not specifically refer to the recent girls basketball coach's termination.

“I hope that the Aggie Nation will continue to succeed and build on the tradition of excellence that has been established here for over a century,” said Morgan.

Morgan has been Superintendent of FCAHS since 2012. His letter details the appreciation of wonderful alumni, staff members, and hopefully how he has affected students' lives in a positive way.

Morgan said he has not yet met with the school board but will do so this week. A replacement has not yet been publicly released.
