Law enforcement continues to investigate a rash of arsons that occurred last month in Jasper County.
Members of the community met on Monday to voice their frustrations and fears to the authorities. Much of this frustration was, however, directed at each other while Jasper County Sheriff Chris Sargent attempted to address their concerns.
He assured them that his department is diligently working the case and have stepped up patrols in the area.
On Tuesday, the State Fire Marshal's office sent down six additional investigators to assist in the investigation. In the meantime, the community was encouraged at today's meeting that the Sheriff's Department is doing all it can to find those responsible for the fires.
Sheriff Sargent also told those that attended the meeting to continue with their neighborhood watch program, and to call in any suspicious activity that they see to his office.
There is a $5,000 reward offered by the State Fire Marshal's Department for anyone that can give information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for setting the fires.
