LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -
Brad Touchstone, R - Hattiesburg, drew no oppositions in House District 101 to succeed Rep. Hank, Lott, R- Sumrall.
Touchstone said he received a call Friday evening from the State Republican Office, which informed that he would be unopposed in this upcoming election.
He said he looks forward to serving as the next State Representative and is already at work.
“I attended the legislative forum this morning because I wanted to hear from other delegation members from the Pine Belt to find out what issues are important, not only for the greater Hattiesburg area, but for all of southern Mississippi,” said Touchstone. “Just like I promised when I qualified for this office, I want to continue hearing from folks in the district about what they think is important and obviously doing my part to making Lamar County a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Touchstone filed qualifying papers on Jan. 2 for the Aug. 15 Republican Primary.
In 2010, Touchstone was appointed to the county's prosecuting attorney and was elected to a full term in 2011.
Touchstone will assume the position in January 2016.
