Hattiesburg Zoo reveals Zoomobile

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - On Thursday, the Hattiesburg Zoo revealed its new educational outreach vehicle, the Zoomobile, at Hawkins Elementary School.

The zoomobile will bring on-site learning to schools in the Pine Belt area.The outreach program is free for school participants and will give students the opportunity to learn about animals through hand-on experience.

"We are excited about this new adventure where the Hattiesburg Zoo will come to you," said Executive Director of the Hattiesburg Convention Commission Rick Taylor.

Various animals from the zoo will travel in the zoomobile to the schools for an on-site field trip. The zoomobile will also launch the Bacon and Eggs Tour, which will feature the Zoo's  most recent animal addition of the Kunekune piglets, eggs and other egg-laying animals.

"School educators that book a field trip with the Zoo by March 31 will receive priority outreach scheduling for their class and a zoo prize package," said Zoo Operations Manager Kelly Ellis.

Educators must book the outreach field trip to be before the end of May. A minimum booking of 25 students is required to qualify for priority scheduling.
