Hattiesburg woman arrested for allegedly stabbing boyfriend

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A Hattiesburg woman is behind bars and charged with aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend.

Leediree Thomas, 49, was arrested Tuesday stemming from an arrest warrant related to a February 10th incident.

According to Hattiesburg police Lt. Jon Traxler, shortly before 2:00 a.m. Feb. 10th officers responded to the 1000 block of McInnis Avenue to a report of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they discovered a male victim suffering from a stab wound, based on the information gathered at the scene, the suspect is believed to be the girlfriend of the victim, who fled the scene according to Traxler.

The victim was taken to a local hospital by AAA Ambulance Service for his injuries. However, the extent of his injuries were unavailable.

According to Traxler, alcohol may have been a factor, and the investigation is ongoing.

Thomas is currently booked at the Forrest County Jail awaiting her initial appearance.
