HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The iFLY conference was held Thursday to help steer kids away from tobacco. The program was hosted by The Mississippi State Department of Health's youth-led tobacco prevention program Generation FREE.

Supporters of the program believe tobacco companies are using different tactics to appeal to youth. These tactics include using colors that appeal to children, introducing flavored tobacco, and even placing tobacco close to candy.

Youth Advisor Samantha Dean believes that the program works saying "it has taught me that as young people, we can make a change in policies in our communities, and we can influence things in our lives for a healthier atmosphere for ourselves and others".
