A Laurel man has been found guilty for gratification of lust of a minor.
Billy Bergeron, 51, of Laurel was found guilty Wednesday afternoon after a jury deliberated for 40 minutes in a Jasper County Courtroom.
Bergeron was on trial for an incident that occurred in March 2013, for touching a minor with his hands and a sexual toy in Stringer.
The minor involved in the incident was an 8 year-old relative of Bergeron according to 13th Circuit District Attorney Daniel Jones.
“My office vigorously prosecutes individuals who harm children and holds these evil predators responsible for their perverted sexual activities against children,” said 13th Circuit District Attorney Daniel Jones.
Bergeron is set to be sentenced by Judge Eddie Bowen on March 27, 2015 at the Jasper County Court House.
“I will make sure these criminals who abuse children will be held accountable for their crimes and punished to the fullest extent of the law,” said Jones.
