Lamar County School District continues to work to stay ahead of student growth within the district.Superintendent
of Education Tess Smith said the current biggest need for more classroom space is in the Sumrall and Oak Grove Longleaf Elementary schools.
“We just have a lot of growth going on across the district and we have been looking at these two situations at these two elementary schools for quite awhile,” said Smith. “Thankfully last night at that work session it all came together. This was on the agenda and it was a unanimous vote all board members were in support of it.”
Smith said portables will be installed in Summer 2015.
“We will have to move in some portables on each campus for at least a year,” said Smith. “They will have to see us through next school year and then the following year hopefully they will move into the new wing.”
