 This is  a news release from the Stone County Economic Development Partnership.

The Stone County Economic Development Partnership-Chamber Division today announced the entertainment line-up for the Pine Hill Festival. The festival kicks off with the county sounds of 8-Second Ride, a regional favorite.

Saturday, March 21, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. you will find an assortment of food vendors, arts and crafts along with plenty of fun for the children, along the streets of Historic Downtown Wiggins. The Presenting Sponsor is Carpenter's Pole & Piling.

The entertainment sponsor is C Spire. Wafting through the air you will enjoy the sounds of local and regional performers. Eric Walford, record label Cowboy Lane Music, headlines on Saturday along with an array of performers including, Dr. Rock and the Interns, The Renegades, and Double Dee. New to the Pine Hill Festival stage is William Carey University Jazz Band, and Carribbean Collective, a steel pan quartet featuring John Wooton, fresh from the Vibraciones Percussion Festival in Lima, Peru. “What a treat we have in store for festival goers this year!” Said Danya Reyer, president of the SCEDP Chamber Division.

More than 100 vendors, including a variety of artisans and specialty food vendors will fill Pine Hill Ave, College Street and 2nd Street. There's something special for the kids including jumpers, rides and other activities that make for a great family weekend. Southern Ag Credit is presenting Fit for Agriculture, 5k/10K and Kids' Fun Run. Mutt Strutt is presented by Stone County SPCA, so even the pets can get in on the activities of the day.

The Pine Hill Festival is the largest single event in the county, planned and organized by a dedicated group of community volunteers. “It is a wonderful way to celebrate the heritage of Stone County, our citizens and the creativity found in South Mississippi,” said Dayna Reyer, Stone County EDP-Chamber Division Chairman. Reyer added, “we are expecting approximately10,000 visitors to gather over this three-day event to eat, listen to good music, shop and fellowship.”

The 5K/10K and Kids race will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday while vendors and local businesses are getting geared up for the day. For animal lovers, the Stone County SPCA's Annual Mutt Strut will also take place Saturday. The Pine Hill festival has activities for young children as well as those young at heart.

    Though she stands at just 4-foot-10, Aimee Durn is a force for the Jones County Junior College women's soccer club. The short freshman from England is a big reason the Lady Bobcats are 5-0-1. "They say big things come in small packages and that's very true for Aimee," said tenth-year JCJC women's soccer coach Dolores Deasley.

    After a week without a football game, the University of Southern Mississippi may be getting some of their walking wounded back as the Golden Eagles prepare to open Conference USA play Saturday with a visit from the University of North Texas. But USM will be down an assistant football coach. USM coach Jay Hopson confirmed Monday that running backs coach Lytrel Pollard was “not with us right now.”
