The 16th annual black history banquet presented by the Jesse L. Brown Lodge was held on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi.
The honoree for the celebration was Dr. Eddie A. Holloway, who is assistant vice president for student affairs/dean of students and assistant professor of psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Dr. Holloway said he was thrilled to be honored during the ceremony, and said the message was to inspire everyone to get involved in the community.
“Where there are needs and you see those needs, do all you can to enhance especially opportunities for our youth,” Dr. Holloway said.
Host Marshall Bell said it's important to never forget those who paved the way for everyone today.
“The main thing now is to recognize many of our people who have blazed the trail during this time now,” Bell added.
