A Heidelberg man on trial for aggravated assault and kidnapping has been found guilty by a jury of his peers.
Deshaun Jones, 26, of Heidelberg was previously charged in a January 2014 incident involving the kidnapping and aggravated assault of Demitri Milsap.
According to District Attorney Daniel Jones, Milsap was scalded by Jones using boiling water in a bath tub, not allowing the victim to escape.
The co-defendant in the case, Nathan Jones, was sentenced to 15 years in the custody of Mississippi Department of Corrections, with 10 to serve and 5 years post release.
According to district attorney's office, it was part of Nathan's agreement that he would testify truthfully against Deshaun Jones.
“Assistant District Attorney's Wendell James and Wilton McNair did an excellent job in trying the case,” said 13th Circuit Court District Attorney Daniel Jones.
Deshaun will be sentenced by Judge Eddie Bowen on Feb. 27th at 10 a.m. at the Jasper County Court House.
“My office prosecutes criminals without passion, prejudice, improper influence, political standing, financial standing, or regards to race and it is my duty to ensure that justice will be served with each and every case this office handles,” said Daniel.
