HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Mississippi has a reputation for making some unflattering national statistical lists.

The latest list pins the state as one of the worst places for young women to live based off of several categories.

According to Glamour.com, Mississippi is unfit for young women based off of salary, health and happiness.

The study concluded that the state of Mississippi has the lowest salaries for women in the nation, as well as the highest unemployment rate. Mississippi's average salary for young women is $25,400 and has a 16 percent unemployment rate. States like New Mexico, Alabama and Arkansas also ranked lowest in this category.

According to the list, young women who live in Mississippi are more likely to have poor diets, exercise less, and have a higher risk of being exposed to STD's.

The study confirmed that nine percent of women have unhealthy diets in the state, and a staggering 39 percent do not exercise. States such as Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia also paralleled Mississippi in the health category.

In regards to sexual health, the website said Mississippi ranks over the national average of Chlamydia cases with a shocking 829 cases of the STD per 100,000 women. Alaska surpasses Mississippi with similar statistics in this category.
