Lady Eagle Hoops Begin Florida Swing, Travel to FIU

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Lady Eagle basketball team begins their Florida swing, traveling to FIU on Feb. 12 for a 5 p.m. (CT) tip-off.

Southern Miss Preview

The Lady Eagles (15-7, 8-3) are coming off a 44-39 win over UAB last Saturday. Tamara Jones recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Jerontay Clemons added 11 points and eight rebounds. Voche' Martin scored nine and a career-high 10 rebounds.

Jones leads the team in scoring with 16.4 points while adding 6.5 rebounds per game. She ranks seventh in the Conference USA in scoring and ninth in field goal percentage including ninth in three-point field goal percentage. Clemons is next at 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

Kierra Jordan contributes 7.6 points and 5.1 rebounds. She is 10th in the league in field goal percentage, hitting 50 percent from the floor. Brooke Rhodes adds 8.1 points and is second the league in three-point field goal percentage and is fourth in 3-point field goals made in C-USA.

The Lady Eagles are averaging 67.6 points on 44.8 percent shooting from the field and 37.6 rebounds per game. Southern Miss ranks second in field percentage while leading the league in three-point field goal percentage. The Lady Eagles rank second field goal percentage defense. The Lady Eagles have connected on 118-of-324 from behind the arc.

Head Coach Joye Lee-McNelis is in her 11th season at the helm of the Lady Eagle program and her 24th season as a head coach.

A Look at FIU

FIU enters tonight's contest with a 3-18 record overall and 0-10 in Conference USA. The Panthers lost at UTEP last Saturday, 72-56. Destini Feagin scored a team-best 10 points while Martita Davydova led the team with 16 rebounds and added nine points.

Kiandre'a Pound is averaging 15.4 points and 7.9 rebounds while Taylor Shade is next at 12.53points per game. Davydova adds 11.5 points and a team-high 10.3 rebounds per game.

FIU is averaging 59.9 points per game while allowing 74.4 points. The Panthers are connecting on 36.4 percent from the floor and 27.4 percent from three, while allowing 45.9 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from beyond the arc. FIU is pulling down 41.7 rebounds per game and connecting on 71.6 percent from the free throw line which is third in C-USA.

Series Record: Southern Miss vs. FIU

This is the seventh meeting between the two teams dating back to 1991. Southern Miss leads the overall series 4-2 against FIU. Southern Miss won the first three meetings between the two teams, but FIU has won two of the last three.
