PETAL, MS (WDAM) -
Forrest County and the City of Petal have joined forces to repave two of the city's main roadways.
Petal officials met with Forrest County Supervisor Burkett Ross to work out an agreement, and both groups agreed to pave Leeville Road and Lynn Ray Road.
Ross said, "With school buses and young kids traveling back and forth going to the [Evelynn] Gandy [Parkway] going out to the school, we felt like we needed to get them paved, and I was real happy that the city came forth with their efforts, and we will soon be going to work, and we are happy about that."
The project will cost around $200,000, a price tag that will be split between the city and the county. Officials estimate that the project will take around two weeks, and plan to being work by the end of February.
