The Mississippi Burn Camp Foundation received a generous donation of $10,000 from the Mississippi Firefighters Association Thursday morning.
The annual summer Burn Camp is for children age seven to 17 who are survivors of burns. The camp is one week long and free to the campers. The camp is held at the Warner Tulley YMCA camp in Port Gibson Mississippi. The donated money will be used to cover the cost of the camp for the children.
"We swim, we canoe, do the rope course, the rock wall, a zip line across the lake," said Tammy Moore, Camp Director. "They do all the normal activities without having to worry about people looking at them or saying things because of their scarring."
This is the second year the firefighters association has fully funded the camp.
