The Mississippi Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby will close ts doors from Feb. 9-March 23.
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -
The Mississippi Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby is about to shut its doors for a few weeks so a new gallery can be constructed.
It will be closed to the public from Feb. 9-March 23.
The work is part of a $2 million renovation and expansion of the museum, which opened in October 2001.
"Basically, we'll have a whole new museum to see in early 2016," said Chad Daniels, museum director. "It'll look completely different, it'll have great new exhibits, it will have a lot more interactive things like that and a lot of new stories that we haven't been able to share because of our existing floor plan. So, we're really excited about it," he said.
Daniels said the museum should re-open on March 24.
He also expects at least one more temporary closure in 2015.
