HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Construction of a new, $32 million center for the study of business at the University of Southern Mississippi is almost finished. Administrators in USM's College of Business said work on Scianna Hall is about 90 percent complete.
The building is 95,000 square feet and will feature financial and marketing labs and multiple gathering areas for students.
"We will almost double the square-footage space that we have," said Faye W. Gilbert, Ph.D., dean of the College of Business.
The building is named in honor of Southern Miss alumnus Chuck Scianna, who donated $6 million to the project.
Gilbert said faculty should be able to move into the building in July. It should officially open in September.
Gilbert said Greene Hall, the current home of the College of Business, will be renovated to be used by the College of Health.
