LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -
This is a news release from Nelson Touchstone PLLC.
Brad Touchstone, a member of the law firm of Nelson Touchstone PLLC, has announced that the members of the firm are donating over $13,000.00 to the Lamar County Sheriff's Department for the purchase of new, fully trained K9 unit. One of the Department's long-time K9 units, “Fellow”, is soon to be retiring from the service due to advanced age. The new K9 unit replacing Fellow will be a Belgian born Malinois professionally trained out of state for narcotic's detection, evidence recovery and suspect tracking and apprehension.
Mr. Touchstone said “having worked alongside the Lamar County Sheriff's Department the last four years as County Attorney, I can attest to the fact that these K9 units provide an invaluable service to our community and serve as a deterrent to those criminals that may bring narcotics into schools and other areas exposing our youth in the community to drugs and crime. We are excited about this opportunity and want to express our gratitude to Sheriff Danny Rigel, Major Brad Weathers and all the sheriff's deputies for keeping Lamar County a safe place live, work, and raise a family.”
