HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The City of Hattiesburg is helping to increase awareness of human trafficking.
Tuesday, mayor Johnny Dupree issued a proclamation recognizing National Human Trafficking Awareness Month in the Hub City.
The purpose is to make local residents more aware of the incidents of sex or labor slavery
affecting women, children and men.
A Biloxi-based organization, Advocates For Freedom (AFF), says human trafficking is the second largest and fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world.
Two AFF representatives joined mayor Dupree for the proclamation announcement at City Hall.
