U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., has been chosen by Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairman Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., to be a member of three subcommittees: Clean Air and Nuclear Safety; Fisheries, Wildlife, and Water; and Transportation and Infrastructure.
“These assignments provide unique opportunities to make a positive impact in the lives of every Mississippian,” Wicker said. “I intend to use these positions to help rein in EPA's overreach on the ‘Clean Air Act' and its proposed regulations on farm ponds and ditches. I also look forward to improving our nation's infrastructure to meet the challenges of an ever-changing global marketplace.”In addition to addressing issues related to air quality and nuclear plant safety, the Senate Subcommittee on Clean Air and Nuclear Safety has jurisdiction over the Tennessee Valley Authority and Nuclear Regulatory Commission.The Senate Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife, and Water oversees matters relating to oceans, coasts, wetlands, and endangered species. The Senate Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure has jurisdiction over transportation issues under the Federal Highway Administration, the Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works program, and the Appalachian Regional Commission.
