Laurel residents are getting ready for the fourth annual Magnolia State Bank Chili Cook-Off on Feb. 21.
Local cooks put their chili recipes to the test each year, cooking on site for a panel of expert tasting judges.
The grand prize winner will receive $1,000 and a traveling chili trophy. Second place will get $500 and third place will receive $250.
The event is held in downtown Laurel from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with children's activities, music, and fun.
Chili will be sold by the bowl, or the “endless” bowl which will feature a handcrafted pottery bowl made by local artisans. Children under 12 eat free.
The event will take place in the 500 block of Central Ave. near the 'Welcome to Laurel' sign. The prize money will be awarded to the winning team toward the end of the event.
