Hattiesburg city officials urge residents to take earned income tax credit

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg city officials are urging qualified Hub City residents to take advantage of a special tax break offered by the federal government.

It's called the Earned Income Tax Credit and it helps many low income residents save money during tax time.

Friday has been designated as National Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day.

City officials are also reminding residents that Hattiesburg is offering free tax services at several locations in the area.

IRS-certified tax preparers will be available at the Sigler Center, the C.E. Roy Community Center, the PRVO office on Williams Street and at Petal-Harvey Baptist Church.
